As per the expert, eating a diet rich in vitamin C and iron increases the production of RBCs in the blood, which improve oxygen flow throughout the body.
By Daphne Clarance: It is important to keep your blood healthy and clean for your overall well-being. The red blood cells (RBCs) in the blood help transport oxygen to all parts of the body, which are vital for general functioning.
In order to keep your blood healthy, nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee shared a post on Instagram about foods that could help with increasing haemoglobin levels, adding essential nutrients to the blood and supporting healthy blood flow.
As per the expert, eating a diet rich in vitamin C increases the production of RBCs in the blood. "Eating a diet rich in iron, vitamin C and other essential nutrients can help increase the production of red blood cells and improve oxygen flow throughout the body," according to the nutritionist.
Iron-rich wheatgrass juice, blackstrap, molasses, kidney beans and tofu help increase blood haemoglobin levels.
Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and broccoli are packed with essential nutrients for healthy blood.
Orange juice, dates, honey, raisins, prune juice are all great sources of iron and protein for maintaining healthy blood.
Herbs like amlaki, manjistha, and guduchi are potent blood purifiers and support healthy blood flow.
Incorporating iron-rich foods and herbs gives "optimal blood health" and supports your body's natural defense mechanisms, wrote the nutritionist.
Besides foods, another way to keep the blood healthy is by exercising. Doing light exercises like jogging, swimming, brisk walking and cycling helps in increasing the heart rate, which not just lowers cholesterol levels but also flushes out any dirt or impurities in the heart and ensures clear passage of blood from the heart to the organs.
